Les Nabis Paintings

Les Nabis (pronounced nah bee) paintings developed from French painters during the late 19th century. The subject matter of these paintings was typically representational, although was design-oriented along the lines of the Art Nouveau. The Les Nabis painters however, were highly influenced by the paintings of Impressionism. Therefore, much of Les Nabis painting style has a non-realistic appearance. The Les Nabis painters we later considered more conservative in comparison to their contemporaries with their Impressionist roots.
