Early Renaissance Paintings

The Early Italian Renaissance started in Florence in the beginning of the 15th century and spread throughout Italy and was patronized by the Medici family. This style included various themes. Religious alter pieces, frescos and works for private enjoyment were used during this time. These paintings utilized techniques such as the use of perspective and foreshortening, which creates the effect of shortening lines to produce an illusion of depth.
