Art Nouveau is considered a global school of thought and type of art. The title "Art Nouveau" is simply French for the term "new art". It happens to be also known as Jugendstil, which is a German term for "youth style", given its name after the periodical Jugend, which endorsed it. As a response to academic art during the 19th century, Art Nouveau had been influenced by means of organic shapes and structures from curved lines as well as elements from nature. Architects made it their goal to coordinate using the natural world around them. Art Nouveau was greatly inspired by the Czech artist Alphonse Mucha. When Mucha released a lithographed poster in the streets of Paris in 1895 as an ad promoting the play Gismonda by Victorien Sardou. It popularized the revolutionary creative design to the locals of Paris. Originally given the name Style Mucha, Mucha's technique eventually grew to become recognized as Art Nouveau. Art Nouveau was considered most favored in Europe, nevertheless its impression had become internationally renowned.
