Pointillism is a style where the artists use thousands of tiny dots, rather than brushstrokes. When the dots are viewed from far way, the different color dots create new colors and a shimmering effect when blended together. Known as optical mixing, the artists' intentions were to make the paintings colors look brighter. The artists would use primary colors for the dots to create the effects.
